Camp Moonyah is 37 acres of densely wooded land located at the end of Greenwing Drive, on a point of land along the south side of the Gilmerton Deep Creek Canal and along the north side of Deep Creek in Chesapeake, Virginia. Scouts interested in a rugged outdoor experience enjoy camping at Camp Moonyah. For more than 50 years Tidewater Council Scouts have enjoyed the convenience of Camp Moonyah for working on camping skills, advancements, and just enjoying time around a campfire.
Volunteers will clear out brush and small trees and branches (4”-6” diameter) from campsites. This project will provide additional camping opportunities and clearer sites for local Scouts to enjoy wilderness camping.
Volunteers will be working in high brush, and are encouraged to wear long pants. Closed toe shoes are required. Bug spray and work gloves are encouraged, but Tidewater Council will have these materials on hand as well. Please bring a refillable water bottle.
