Position Summary

Community Outreach Volunteers play a vital role in representing the YWCA South Hampton Roads in the community. Volunteers assist with outreach events, distribute informational materials, engage with community members, and support initiatives that promote awareness of YWCA programs and services. This position is ideal for individuals who are passionate about community engagement, social impact, and empowering others.


Key Responsibilities

  • Represent YWCA South Hampton Roads at community events, fairs, and outreach activities.

  • Assist in the setup and breakdown of outreach tables, displays, and materials.

  • Provide information to community members about YWCA programs, services, and volunteer opportunities.

  • Help distribute outreach materials such as flyers, brochures, and promotional items.

  • Support staff in coordinating community engagement efforts and special projects.

  • Maintain a professional and welcoming demeanor while interacting with the public.

  • Track participation and assist in documenting outreach outcomes as directed.


Qualifications

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Comfortable engaging with diverse groups of people.

  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently or as part of a team.

  • Passionate about the YWCA mission to eliminate racism and empower women.

  • Must complete volunteer orientation and required background checks.

  • Ability to lift up to 20 lbs and stand for extended periods during events.
