HUNGER RELIEF PROGRAMS
Community Dinner: Every day, volunteer groups prepare and serve free, nutritious meals to hungry and homeless individuals and families.
Food Pantry: Individuals and families struggling with food insecurity come pick up free, fresh groceries (produce, meat, deli, dairy, and baked goods) every week.
Food Box: Individuals and families receive non-perishable food every 30 days. This is in addition to pantry items.
HOUSING PROGRAMS
Day Support: Homeless single adults have access to showers, laundry, and mail delivery services as well as Support Specialists who engage, assess, and connect them to housing and other services needed to succeed. Located at the City of Virginia Beach’s Housing Resource Center, JCOC operates this program.
Emergency Housing: JCOC has the only year round shelter in Virginia Beach for single homeless adults. It is based in the City of Virginia Beach’s Housing Resource Center, and has over 55 beds for individuals. Clients work with our Housing Support Specialists to obtain permanent housing, employment and other services needed to succeed.
Permanent Supportive Housing: Eight chronically homeless and disabled individuals pay 30 percent of their income to receive housing at our apartment building in Virginia Beach. Case management is provided.
Rapid Rehousing: JCOC works with area landlords to secure affordable housing options for homeless individuals. Clients receive home based case management services for up to two years.
Veterans Transitional Housing: Sixteen veterans live at our apartment building in Virginia Beach. Rent is 30 percent
of their income. Individuals stay for up to one year, receive case
management services, and are linked to VA services.
