Who We Are
Housing - Families are first assessed through our Housing Crisis Hotline and then referred to shelter and housing services through a coordinated assessment process that involves multiple cities. Last year ForKids provided housing services to 1,588 families, 3,676 individuals in our housing stability programs.
Education - Research shows that children experiencing homelessness are more likely to exhibit educational deficits than other children. ForKids has built our program to address each student’s individual academic needs. Last year 331 children participated in the ForKids Education Program.
Critical Services - To effectively break the cycle of family homelessness and poverty, parents and children need quick access to comprehensive support services, which must follow them to permanent housing. Last year ForKids provided intensive assistance to 1568 individuals, including 980 children and 470 families.
What We Do
ForKids is breaking the cycle of homelessness and poverty for families and children in South Hampton Roads and Western Tidewater with housing, education, and comprehensive services.
