Who We Are

The YWCA is the oldest and largest multicultural women’s organization in the world. Since 1911, the YWCA South Hampton Roads has strengthened social movements that eliminate racism, empower women, and promote peace, justice, and dignity for all. For nearly forty years, the YWCA of South Hampton Roads has run its emergency shelter, providing the only place of refuge for families escaping domestic and sexual violence in the City of Norfolk.

What We Do

YWCA is dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women and promoting peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all. The YWCA South Hampton Roads is a source of strength, courage, and empowerment for women and families facing crisis. Our programs provide quality services responding to the critical needs of survivors of sexual violence and domestic violence, the need for quality and affordable childcare, and opportunities to work collaboratively to eliminate racism in the community.
