2016 "Back-to-School" Project - Maintenance, Beautification and Deep Cleaning projects in preparation for our staff and children heading back-to-school! This project is planned for activities surrounding the following tasks:

Update and Embellish Fall Flowerbeds

Deep-clean children's cots and classroom furniture

Clean windows - inside and out

Wash outside and sweep/clean inside of the Children's School Bus

Wash Playground Equipment (pending pressure washer access)

Yard Work- weeding, planting, turning mulch and trimming bushes

Clean/organize the Children's Library space

Clean Kitchen Area

Clean/sanitize children's inside toys

 

We want to thank you in advance for choosing to spend your day volunteering at Children’s Harbor! Volunteer hours eliminate the labor cost involved with completing such projects. As a non-profit agency, this is paramount to our success!  Each one of these dollars we save through volunteer projects such as this, are able to be used to help families and children in our community gain access to quality early care and education experiences.

Q: Minimum age to participate.
A: You must be age 18 or older to participate.

Q: Minors require an adult.
A: No

Q: Driving Directions
A: Located in Olde Towne Portsmouth on the corner of Green and London Streets. We are one block in off of Effingham near Portsmouth Naval Hospital.

Q: Details of tools required.
A: Tools/Supplies: It is our goal to provide all supplies and small hand tools needed for all of our projects. Additional gloves, shovels, rakes, and other hand tools are appreciated. Hats/sunscreen are recommended. If the volunteer group has access to additional tools, larger machines or other resources such as power washer, and/or extra yard tools, etc. please be sure to let us know!

Q: Plan for bad weather.
A: If inclement weather… plan B: We will have an alternative plan for indoor activities if there is inclement weather. These activities might include, cleaning and organizing the children's library spaces, office nooks, common spaces and kitchen areas. Other activities might include washing and sanitizing indoor toys and reading to the children!

Q: Details of provided meals.
A: Small continental breakfast snacks and coffee will be available during the welcome and orientation. A full lunch will be provided, with snacks available throughout the day. Bottled water will also be provided.

A: We will have coolers with ice water available throughout the day.
